It looks like a packaging problem with Fedora packages. I'm running KDE 4.0.0 on Mandriva 2008, with packages available from kde.org and it is also running fine here. I think it actally a very nice *.0.0 release, I still remember KDE 3.0.0 and things this time are a lot better. And I also think there is much more technology in there this time. I'm confident that KDE 4.1 which is supposed to be released sometime in august this year, will absolutely rock.

haha, that is wild; you have the exact same thoughts I had while experiencing the "upgrade". I was planning on using it on my work computer (Ubuntu), then another developer installed it before me (Ubuntu). Lucky me! Although he did install it side-by-side, it was still a big waste of time. He berated it as much as possible before finally moving back to kde3. I love the KDE/Qt library, but the KDE4 Team seems to have corrupted a great code base. I'll wait for KDE 4.5! Great blog site!

If you are running KDE 4.0 I would recommend that you upgrade to KDE 4.1. This sounds like a bug with regards to retrieving and storing the appropriate geometry. I run KDE 4.1 and are not affected by this. KDE 4.1 is an extremely large improvement on KDE 4.0 anyway, and is well worth the upgrade.
